This design for a new 7,100 square foot residence is one of three undertaken in the River Ranch community located in McCall, ID. Though the property is situated on the Payette River, topography and wetlands prevent the house being located adjacent to the water’s edge. This distance informed the slipping of bedroom, entertaining, and garage masses gesturing towards the water. Within these slips are intimately programmed courtyards, with one a pool, defined by a naturalized edge and stream terminating down the hill towards the River. The simple, gable masses are articulated with large expanses of glazing offset by finely textured materials of native rock, shou sugi ban wood siding, and weathering steel.
